Today’s big announcement about Google acquiring Motorola Mobility, which will give them access to over 17,000 patents, is bound to get reactions from the other top-line Android device manufacturers.

The reactions have been positive so-far, probably because the deal is also going to help them in fighting off the patents problem from the likes of Apple & Microsoft.

Peter Chou, CEO, HTC

“I welcome Google’s commitment to defending Android and its partners”

“We welcome Google’s commitment to defending Android and its partners”

Jong-Seok Park, President  & CEO, LG

“Samsung Electronics welcomes Google’s proposed acquisition of Motorola, which is aimed at protecting the patents owned by the Android camp, the acquisition won’t affect Samsung’s mobile business”

Kevin Kim, Samsung’s spokesman

“Google is a strong shareholder and the deal should benefit operations of our client, Motorola. We are a close partner with Motorola and we don’t expect the deal to change our relationship with the company”

Vincent Tong, spokesman of Foxconn International

Google has also announced that today’s deal will in no-way impact its relationship with other manufacturers. Android will work like it has been till now.
