Skype today issued an update to its official Android update adding support for more devices. The exact number of new supported devices is 17, and it includes the likes of HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S, LG Revolution and Acer Iconia Smart.

Video calling is now available on the following Android devices:
- Samsung Galaxy S II
- Samsung Galaxy S
- Samsung Droid Charge – Verizon
- Samsung Galaxy Tab
- HTC Desire (2.2)
- HTC Thunderbolt – Verizon
- HTC Sensation
- HTC Evo 4G
- HTC Evo 3D
- HTC Incredible S
- HTC Desire HD
- HTC Flyer
- LG Revolution – Verizon (2.2)
- Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY
- Sony Ericsson Xperia ray
- Sony Ericsson Xperia mini pro
- Acer A5
If your Android device is not in the above list, you should still be able to make video call. All you have to do is enable video calling in your Skype settings. Just go to “Skype settings” after launching the app and select “enable video calling”.
But there is a catch, unlike certified devices, the video quality on non-certified devices might be below standard or you might be able to use only the back camera.
Doesn’t yet work on Htc chacha. No option of enabling video call in the settings at all.
Video call from Skype is not available with my LG Optimus one even after this upgrade.
