Today is the D-Day for Mobile Number Portability in India, after a series of delays and postponements, consumers will finally be able to change telecom operators without changing their number.
MNP was first launched in India in Haryana last November. The customer will have to pay a maximum of Rs. 19 to the new operator to change network and the new operator has the option to waive off the fee or reduce it. But the minimum stay period with one operator for consumer is three months. Both pre-paid and post-paid consumers can use MNP.

Guy’s we have been waiting for this for last few years, when TRAI coined the term MNP (Mobile Number Portability). Recently telecom Minister of India Mr. Kapil Sibal has released Mobile Number Portability (MNP) in Haryana.

Finally….though it took time but this will be a gr8 help for customers to switch to a different carrier if they are unsatisfied with a service from their exixting carrier…
