Barnes & Noble Nook Color has been out in the market for quite some time. Apart from being an e-book reader, this device can also be modified to become a decent Android tablet.

In this guide, we will take you though the various methods to transform your Nook Color into Tablet cum E-reader. There are various groups of developers working on making your Nook Color a better device. All of them have come up with one or the other method to do the same. You can choose any of the method, with which you feel comfortable.

And, yes, if you are not sure about what you going to do, do not do it. You may end up ruining your Nook Color and its warranty.

The first step is rooting your Nook Color:

Rooting basically is exploiting a security hole to gain the root access to perform actions, which normally manufacturers block, similar to getting administrator/Superuser privileges.

There are two type of root access available, in the first one you only get ADB access, and others one provides Superuser privileges as well.

First Method: Nooter 0.2 [Works for all Nook Color software versions]

  • App Auto Install (Open up NooterFiles from sdcard drop in /data/app)

  • Enables ADB, SuperNooter will also mount the NC /system partition and copy over Superuser.apk and the su binary.
