Yes, it’s true! Almost half of the US Smartphone buyers in last six months chose Android.

In its latest report Neilson states that the competition between smartphone operating systems is a heated one. When it comes to the installed base, for U.S. mobile consumers who already own smartphones, it is a three-way tie between Blackberry RIM, Apple’s IOS, and Android OS.

But analyzing the preferences of those who purchased a smartphone in the past six months, Android came out as a clear winner with 43 per cent of recent acquirers purchasing an Android device.

On the other hand, Apple iOS only managed a share of 26 percent and 20 per cent was grabbed by Blackberry RIM.
