NTP sues Google, HTC, LG & Motorola over patent issues
NTP Inc., best-known for getting a settlement from Research In Motion over email technology, is shifting its legal sights to a number of smartphone makers Google.
NTP, which holds a number of patents but doesn’t manufacture any products, filed a lawsuit on Thursday in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Virginia against Google, HTC, LG and Motorola over eight patents related to the wireless delivery of email.
AMOLED display shortage not temp; to last at least until 2012

HTC posts record second quarter revenue
HTC today announced a record second quarter revenue of NT$60.53 billion (US$1.88 billion), up nearly 58.4 percent year-on-year, or 60.6 percent quarter-on-quarter, and higher than its forecast of NT$50 billion. Read the rest of this entry »
The company also set a record revenue of NT$23.86 billion in June, up 66.7 percent year-on-year and the third consecutive month the company registered a record monthly revenue, the company said Tuesday.

Quick Note: 160,000 Android phones selling everyday
At the Droid X launch event today, Google vice president Andy Rubin announced that 160,000 Android devices are being sold per day. That is a big increase from 100,000 devices from last month’s Google I/O.

INQ working on Android phone; to launch in fourth quarter
Social handset maker INQ has started focussing on Android now, leaving behind Qualcomm Brew.
Gigaom is reporting that INQ will be launching its first Android handset in the fourth quarter this year.
No other details are currently available on this device, but it is expected to be social networking oriented phone.
In the recent times, we have seen lot many companies migrating towards Android in the push to widen their smartphone inventory.

Sony Ericsson working on Android powered 'Walkman Phone'
We all were wondering, what after Xperia X10 series from Sony Ericsson. So, here is a rumour which is suggesting that Sony Ericsson is working on a Walkman series phone running on Android.
This upcoming is very similar to Xperia X10 mini but with the walkman twist. It would be sporting a similar 2.6? TFT touchscreen, 5 MP cam, GPS, Bluetooth, 3G, 600MHz processor and supoort of style up covers.

Acer announces LumiRead e-book reader

Acer made their Android based e-book reader more official with a press release today. Acer CEO some days back showed the device in an event, but it was thought to be a tablet. But, now we know it is an e-book reader.
The 6″ LumiRead, which is half-typical e-reader, and half-all new measures only a few millimeters thick, has QWERTY keypad, comes with 2GB of memory for storing books and other materials, WiFi and 3G. It will be using Barnes & Noble and Libri.de e-book stores.
