Company’s event invite comes with a tag-line “Now your world is open,” which is cryptic and does not reveal anything, but if the invite image is any indication – we are putting our money on recently announced Galaxy Fame.
Samsung Galaxy Fame is an entry-level smartphone and Samsung India hasn’t released any budget Android smartphones in a long time now. Company’s most of the cheaper Android models are pretty old now and most of them run on outdated Gingerbread. With the onslaught of budget models from Indian companies like Micromax, Karbonn, Lava, iBall, Intex – Samsung really needs to step up and launch something decent and with a nice price-tag.
Samsung Galaxy Fame can be that device and if the company prices it around INR 6-8K, it would be a no-brainer for many. It packs a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 1GHz processor, 5MP rear camera, VGA front camera, 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage, 1300 mAh battery, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. Company might introduce the dual-SIM model in the country or may be both.
The other candidate is Galaxy S III Mini, this mid-range Android smartphone is yet to launch in the country and would be a great mid-range phone for the company in the Indian market. It features 4-inch WVGA display, dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 5MP rear camera, Android 4.1, and 1500 mAh battery. If priced around INR 15,000, Samsung Galaxy S III Mini can be a great fit for company’s portfolio.
Right now, all this is just speculation and we will have to wait till February 14 to know more.Follow @androidosblog
