Apple has sued Samsung Electronics for allegedly infringing the patents and trademarked look of iPhone and iPad. According to the company, Galaxy S phones and Galaxy Tab are blatant copies of its I-devices.

“It’s no coincidence that Samsung’s latest products look a lot like the iPhone and iPad, from the shape of the hardware to the user interface and even the packaging”

– Apple

Patents in questions: 7

  • Patents related to device operation including the use of hand gestures on the screen, including selecting, scrolling, pinching and zooming
  • Patents on the color and rectangular shape of the iPhone and iPad including flat black face of the iPhone and iPad, shape and rounded corners of on-screen icons.

“Instead of pursuing independent product development, Samsung has chosen to slavishly copy Apple’s innovative technology, distinctive user interfaces, and elegant and distinctive product and packaging design, in violation of Apple’s valuable intellectual property rights”

– Apple

What Apple wants?

To block further use of its patents and trademarks, along with cash compensation and “reasonable funds for future corrective advertising.”

  1. I hear apple is going to sue the English language for calling certain round fruit apples. They are also planning on suing any one named Adam or Angela for capitalizing the first A in their name. All this in the name of competition.
