Moto E (1st Gen) getting Android 5.1 update in India

Moto E Android 5.1 updateAfter multiple soak tests, Motorola has finally started rolling out the Android 5.1 Lollipop update for the first-generation Moto E smartphone in the Indian market. The update is now available over-the-air (OTA) and will reach all Moto E units in the country over the next few days.

According to Motorola, the Moto E Lollipop update brings the usual Lollipop specific changes like material design, enhanced notifications, Smart Lock and performance improvements as well as Motorola-specific tweaks like updated Motorola Assist & Ambient display. You can check out the detailed change-log later in the report.

This update will directly take most Moto E (1st Gen) units to Android 5.1 from Android 4.4. The first soak test users, who have Android 5.0.2 on-board and did not get the Android 5.1 soak test update, will be getting a small update with Android 5.1-specific changes.

If you have already updated your Moto E (1st Gen) to Android 5.1. Do let us know about the experience in comments section.

    1. Hey there are issues in OTA update. Today I got the OTA update but I chose to manually update the system later. But now the notification of Lollipop update does not show and by manually going to Settings>About Phone>System Update it shows system is up to date.
