Facebook expands video-calling in Messenger globally

Facebook Messenger video callingFacebook has revealed that it has expanded the availability of video-calling support in Messenger app to almost all markets around the world. The feature is still absent from a few markets, which seem to include India, as the company is attempting to improve the video-calling quality for these countries.

“We’re happy to share we’ve now rolled out the capability globally, with the exception of a few countries we’re still working on improving quality for,” wrote Facebook’s David Marcus in a post.

Originally launched in April 2015 with just 18 markets, the Messenger video-calling feature allows users to video-chat with other Messengers users on Android and iOS. There is no support for desktop to mobile video chat or vice-versa right now, as the former is powered by Skype and the latter is Facebook’s own solution.

You can tap the video icon in the top right corner of the screen within an existing Messenger conversation to check out the video-calling right now.
