Xiaomi Mi4iChinese smartphone maker Xiaomi on Thursday unveiled the new Mi 4i smartphone at a press event in New Delhi. According to the company, the new phone has been built keeping the Indian consumers in mind.

It sports a 5-inch full HD IPS display with a polycarbonate unibody design and will be released in five colour options. The phone is powered by 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core 64-bit processor and packs 3120 mAh battery.

On the imaging front, Xiaomi has included a 13MP f2.0 rear camera on the phone with dual-tone LED flash and a 5MP f1.8 front shooter. In addition, the Mi 4i packs 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, dual-SIM support and 4G LTE connectivity.

According to Xiaomi, It is the first smartphone from the company to run Android 5.0 with MIUI 6 and comes with India-specific features like Visual IVR. Visual IVR allows the users to select the IVR options from an on-screen menu for quickly and effectively getting the desired information. V-IVR will be initially available in the beta ROM of the phone and later reach the stable version.

The company also added that the MIUI 6 is now available in six Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Pricing and availability:

Xiaomi has noted that India will act as the launchpad for Mi 4i. The smartphone will go on sale beginning April 30 in the country via flash sales and the registrations for the first sale open later today at Flipkart.

Although Flipkart will be the only retailer carrying the phone in the country initially, the phone will reach all other Mi partners like Snapdeal, Amazon, The Mobile Store and Airtel in the coming months. Xiaomi Mi 4i will also be the first smartphone to be available via Mi.com in India and the Mi store availability will coincide with Amazon and Snapdeal release of the phone.

Coming to the price, the Mi 4i will retail at INR 12,999 in the country.

Global availability: Xiaomi has revealed that Mi 4i will reach Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia in May.
