New Mi devicesXiaomi’s product catalogue is expanding with each new day and the company isn’t shy of entering new product categories. On Tuesday at its fifth birthday celebration event in Beijing, the company unveiled a number of devices including a brand-new Smart TV, a Smart power strip and a weighing scale. Let’s take a look.

55-inch Mi TV 2

Xiaomi has introduced a 55-inch version of its Mi TV 2. It comes just days after the company had taken the wraps of the 40-inch variant. According to the company, 55-inch Mi TV 2 sports a 4K LCD panel, 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage. The television also comes with a wireless eight-speaker soundbar and sub-woofer with Dolby virtual surround sound enhancements. The device is even slimmer than the 49-inch Mi TV 2, which was launched last year, with just 15.2mm ultra-thin frame. Like all Mi TV devices, it also runs on MIUI TV OS.

Xiaomi Redmi 2A

In order to get the first-time smartphone buyers as well as the consumers with less disposable income, Xiaomi has announced a $96 (599 yuan) 4G LTE smartphone in the form of Redmi 2A. A variant of the company’s previously launched Redmi 2 smartphone, the phone is powered by 1.5GHz quad-core Cortex A7 Leadcore L1860C processor, instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 present in Redmi 2. Other specifications of the phone are similar to Redmi 2 – 4.7-inch display, 4G LTE support, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera, and 2200 mAh battery.

It goes on sale beginning April 8 in variety of colour options and on the first day of the sale, the Redmi 2A will be available at a promotional price of 499 yuan ($80).Xiaomi Redmi 2APink Mi Note

Xiaomi already offers the Mi Note smartphone in three colour options, but in an effort to better entice the female consumers, the company has launched a pink version of the phone. It packs the same specifications as other Mi Note models, but will only be available in the 16GB internal storage version. Smart devices

Apart from the new TV and phones, Xiaomi has also taken the wraps of two Smart devices in the form of Mi Smart Scale and Mi Power Strip. The Mi Smart Scale is weighing machine with accuracy down to 50 grams. It can sync with Mi Fit application and can manage weights of as many as 15 people. Mi Smart Power Strip looks similar to the power strips, you would normally find in the market, but it includes three USB Smart Ports with 2.1A output, in addition to three power sockers, for charging devices like smartphones. It will be available at 49 yuan in China.Mi Power StripThere is no word on the international roll-out of any of the devices at this point.

  1. My El-cheapo Writex power strip is kinda’ malfunctioning, so maybe I could get the Xiaomi one if launched in India soon enough, if only to try out the Xiaomi brand. But the lack of an LED indicator is strange!

    In any case, that’s probably the only thing on this list that I can afford right now LOL! 😛

    The MI 55 inch tv is great deal, but when wil it come to indian shores ?

    1. May be never. In India, major TV content is between two big groups Star and Zee and both the parties are not willing to partner with Xiaomi. Xiaomi doesn’t want to just sell TV but TV+huge streamable content and this tussle is going on forever for the last one yearver
