Google has released an updated version of its News & Weather app in Google Play, which brings brand new dark theme and other changes. The updated version is already reaching Android devices across the globe.
In addition to the dark theme, which can be activated from overflow menu, the updated News & Weather includes search option, new UI tweaks and bug fixes. No official change-log is available at this point, so this is pretty much what we know about the update.
Messenger app gets custom contact colours
In related news, Google has also published an updated version of its new Messenger app. This version brings support for changing the contact colour, thus letting you decide how a particular message thread will look like.
In addition, the update packs bug-fixes and performance improvements.
New Google Glass design spotted in patent docs
Looks like along with the new processor in Glass, Google is also planning a new design. A tweaked version of Google Glass appeared in a set of patent documents filed by the company with USPTO. The docs show a revamped design of this wearable device, which will be lighter and slightly less odd-looking.
New design doesn’t have the casing overhanging the left ear that the current Google Glass Explorer edition has, and the casing that hangs in front of the eye appears smaller than in the current design, reports Quartz.
Google to roll-out revamped versions of its services for kids
Google is reportedly working on kid-friendly versions of its popular services like Search, YouTube and Chrome. The company has charged Pavni Diwanji, who is VP of Engineering, to lead this initiative. There is no final timeline on when the children-oriented versions of the Google services will go live.
