YurekaAs expected, Micromax-owned Yu Televentures on Thursday unveiled its first smartphone at a press event in New Delhi. Dubbed as Yureka, the new smartphone is powered by Cyanogen OS and will be available exclusively at Amazon.in.

“The future is moving from an app driven experience to a services drive experience and YU in partnership with Cyanogen is a platform that is going to lead that transformation. We will work directly with developers’ community and brands to build services right on the OS layer and offer a differentiated consumer experience. We are creating a global platform for Indian app developers to rise at the world stage. For YU, services will be the core focus which would be ably supported by hardware partners like Qualcomm to offer a seamless and customised experience through our devices and services. We are together committed to challenge the limits of possibility and create a new world,” said Rahul Sharma, co-founder Yu Televentures.

Yureka sports a 5.5-inch 1280x720p HD IPS display with Gorilla Glass 3 and is powered by 1.5GHz octa-core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. The phone also comes with 13MP rear camera with LED flash, 5MP front shooter, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot.

  1. Spec & price mouth watering in comparison with Redmi note 4G. Now how to finalise between CM VS MIUI?

      1. I think that will be optimised by the OS CM…. Just saw a video of OPO VS MI4, where OPO performed better in terms of battery.

  2. great! good competition to xiaomi and asus.. really happy to see upto-10K category getting good phones.. other brands like tony/samedung/heckTC/HellG should leave this category and focus on premium.. as they just cant match these for specs/price ratio..

  3. Micromax you took something beautiful(Cyangemod) and made Sh!t out of it. I was hoping a monster of a device from Micromax but this is sheer disappointment .

    1. It is Cyanogen that is to blamed here. They broke the contract with OPO and made a new one with MMX. MMX is just using it’s right.OPO and YU are in different league, shouldn’t be compared.

      1. If CM wants to be present in mass market, OPO will not be helpful because of their limited resources… MMX can reach the mass, this is decent spec and I don’t think they will stop with just one device. Good for MMX if they improve QC & post sales experience.

      2. For that Cyanogen does not require to enter into exclusive Contract with MMX. They terminated contract by sending a mail. Cyanogen definitely backstabbed OPO.

  4. Such a disappointment- you just re-branded Coolpad F2 4G installed CM11 and started selling it as YU phone… Really… you stoop that low..

No wonder you got OnePlus One banned in India, you knew your worthless YU phone was no match to OPO.. Pathetic tactics from Micromax.

I was skeptical earlier but now I am sure.. Micromax isnt a budget friendly manucaturer.. They simply give you inferior products at lower cost and expect you to believe you own a premium device.

  5. The only thing they got right was the pricing. 9k for this hardware and CM11 is worth it.
It just doesn’t make sense to get OnePlus One banned, these two aren’t even in the same price range..

    :/

  6. very good micromax.Indian company just kicked the chinese oneplus one out of the arena with astonishing price of 9k.Now xiaomi note is also absent from the market till feb15,so grab the market micromax

  7. guys please support indian companies and not xiomi or onePlusOne.Though YU is rebranded phone but micromax is not earning hefty profits out from it.
Kamse kam ghar ke logo ne satth nahi chodni chahiye

    1. Micromax is just like any other chinese companies dude! they just rebadge chinese phones. In the current open market world, it’s useless supporting any particular company, all are after your money… be it Indian or Chinese… agreed, if Micromax was making their phones India, there is still some point in buying their products, but at the end of the day they sell chinese phones and pretty lousy ones!

    2. It’s a global economy. May the best product win. I won’t simply buy a Tata car because it’s made in India. It has to prove it self worth my money. Same goes for mobiles.

      1. Well said … Domestic companies has to prove themselves that they are better than other companies.

  8. cynogenmod is superior than MIUI in every aspect.MIUI is very heavy ui which consumes a hell of ram from phone and make it useless in terms of performance

  9. Guys–>
Coolpad f2 has Mediatek Octacore processer & Coolpad’s some OS but not Cynogen, also camera sensor is not sony.

Yu yureka has Qualcom snapdragon Octa core processer, Cynogen 11 os and sony exmor sensor.

So, the model is look like Cool pad f2 but inside its completely different spec.

    Good job Yu.

  10. In just 140 USD / 8999 INR, you will get contract free custom android OS armoured device which has:

The best thing is, it is all from INDIA our country!!

WHAT DO YOU EXPECT IN JUST AN AMAZING LIGHT POCKET 8999 INR PRICE!!!!

Note: Don’t compare it with Chinese clone COOLPAD F2, as MMX YUREKA has robust Octa-Core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 but the COOLPAD F2 has cheap MediaTek MT6592.

  11. It looks good on paper, but specs are not everything. If they were chinese brands would have overthrown Apple and Samsung long ago. I’d reserve my verdict for 3 month reviews. If we are to look at Micromax’s track record till now it doesn’t look good.

  12. Phone has many issues:

    1. Automatic restart many times(idle state).

    2. Heating problem while playing games or nomal apps

    3. LED notification light don’t work.

    4. Phone got hang (while Playing games)and restart very frequently.

    5. Camera quality is not good (May b software issue)

I think it would have been better if micromax had tested their device before launching it.
