YouTube introduces Music Key subscription service, adds new features to Android app

YouTube Android App changesGoogle-owned YouTube on Wednesday announced that it is adding a couple of new features to make it easier to find and play music on its apps and website. The video giant also unveiled the beta version of its new Music Key streaming service, which will include ad-free playback and more.Talking about the music-specific changes to YouTube, which have no relation to the Music Key subscription service, it is adding a new Music section to its apps as well as website. This section is different from the Music category that exists alongside the likes of Sports, Gaming and more. Music section occupies a prominent position in both app and website and will give direct access to recommended music playlists, favorite music videos, trending music videos, top music videos by genres and more.

“Starting today, you’ll see a new home just for music on your YouTube app for Android, iOS and on that shows your favorite music videos, recommended music playlists based on what you’re into and playlists of trending music across YouTube. You can find a playlist to perfectly fit your mood, whether that’s a morning motivators playlist or Boyce Avenue YouTube Mix. Check out the newest songs from channels you subscribe to, like FKA twigs or Childish Gambino. Or quickly find the songs you’ve played over and over and over again,” noted YouTube in a blog YouTube Android App changes

Secondly, YouTube is making is easy find music. Until now, you could easily search a track and find it on the video-sharing service but finding full albums was a difficult task and to solve the problem, YouTube, in the coming days, will start showing artist discographies with access to albums, mixes, official channels and more in one place.

Coming to YouTube Music Key, this streaming service aims to become your one stop destination for music. It will allow the subscriber to listen to music without ads, support background playback, and include offline access.YouTube Music Key

It will be free during the six months beta period, which goes live on Monday. Thereafter, it will cost $7.99/ month for a promotional period and $9.99/month after the promotional period. The YouTube Music Key subscription includes a subscription to Google Play Music All Access.
