Dell on Monday announced the launch of its new variants of the Venue 7 and Venue 8 tablets in the Indian market. The tablets are the improved versions of the company’s previously-released tablets with the same name, however Dell has decreased the amount of included RAM to just 1GB, from 2GB in the original Venue 7 and 8.
According to Dell, the new Venue 7 and Venue 8 tablets will retail for INR 14,999 and INR 18,999 in the country. To remind you, Dell also offers Wi-Fi-only variants of these tablets, which retail for INR 11,999 and INR 15,999 respectively.
Coming to the specifics, the new Venue tablets come with voice-calling support, 3G connectivity, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, Android 4.4 and 4550 mAh battery. Among other features, Venue 7 sports a 7-inch 1280x800p IPS display, 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z3460 processor, 5MP rear camera, and 1MP front shooter. On the other hand, Venue 8 packs an 8-inch 1920x1200p IPS display, 2.1GHz dual-core Intel Atom Z3480 processor, 5MP rear camera and 2MP front camera.
“Dell is focusing strongly on the tablet segment in India. With voice enablement, we are confident of capturing a sizable part of the highly segmented tablet market. The addition of voice calling comes as a result of customer feedback that highlighted how increasingly consumers feel the need to converge their mobile technology needs into a single device,” said P. Krishnakumar, Executive Director & General Manager, Consumer & Small Business, Dell India.
Dell is bundling 20GB of Dropbox storage for 1 year with both Venue 7 and 8 tablets. The devices can now be grabbed from Dell stores as well as Dell website in the country.
