Xiaomi Redmi NoteAs we had anticipated, Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi today announced that it will begin the sales of Redmi Note smartphone in the Indian market on December 2. This budget phablet from the company will be sold exclusively via Flipkart.com like other Xiaomi products and will follow the flash sale method.

According to Xiaomi, the registrations for the December 2 sale will start at 6PM, November 25. You will have to visit this link to register for the sale. The phone will retail for INR 8,999, down INR 1000 from the earlier announced price-tag of INR 9999.

Originally unveiled in March this year, Xiaomi Redmi Note features a 5.5-inch HD display, 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor, 13MP rear camera and 3100 mAh battery. The phone also packs 5MP front shooter, dual-SIM support, 3G connectivity and 2GB of RAM.

In addition, Xiaomi has included 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, and Android 4.2 with MIUI v5.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G coming soon

Xiaomi has also announced that it will be launching the 4G variant of Redmi Note smartphone, which is known as Redmi Note 4G, in the country. This variant is powered by 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and supports Indian 4G LTE bands.

The 4G-variant of Redmi Note was originally introduced in August this year and packs the same specifications as the non-4G version apart from the processor, Android version and the number of SIM card slots. The phone will run on Android 4.4 with MIUI v5 and includes just one SIM-card slot.

The company has revealed that Redmi Note 4G will retail not only at Flipkart.com, but also at Airtel shops in 4G circles. The Redmi Note 4G has been priced at INR 9,999 and will go on sale in the second-half of December.

Note: The news report has been updated to reflect that Redmi Note runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is a dual-SIM phone, while the Note 4G will be powered by Android 4.4 and include only one SIM-card slot.

  2. Hi Gaurav, Read in some review: 4g model doesn’t support 3g, ie “in case 4g is not available it will switch to 2g”; any details on that?
