Sony to release SmartWatch 3 & SmartBand Talk in India in December
At Thursday’s Xperia press event in India, Sony revealed that it plans to release the Android Wear-powered SmartWatch 3 along with SmartBand Talk in December in the country. The pricing of the Sony wearables is unclear at this moment and will be announced closer to the launch.
Originally introduced alongside the Xperia Z3 family at IFA earlier this month, the Sony SmartWatch 3 features a 1.6-inch 320×320 square display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage. The smartwatch also packs NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 420 mAH battery, and water-resistance.
Like all Android Wear smartwatches, the Sony SmartWatch 3 comes with the usual Google Now integration and can be used with Android smartphones running Android 4.3 or above.
Sony will be offering the smartwatch in Black and Yellow colours, however the main watch unit is removable and can be used with others straps, which will be released by the company in different colour options.
Coming to the SmartBand Talk, it is basically a fitness tracker with support for answering call coming on the paired smartphones. In addition, the SmartBand Talk can be used to read phone notifications, open messages, and do more. It syncs with Sony’s Lifelog app to present all the fitness data in a more readable form.
The SmartBand Talk features a 1.4-inch e-ink rectangular display with 296x128p resolution, water-resistance, 70 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0 and microphone. The device will be sold in Black and White colours but like SmartWatch 3, the central unit is removable and can be attached with separately sold coloured straps.
