HTC on Tuesday announced the launch of three new Desire-series Android smartphones in the Indian market at a press event in New Delhi. The new Desire 820, 820Q and 816G will be joining the company’s growing device portfolio in the country.
Originally unveiled at IFA trade fair, the HTC Desire 820 sports 5.5-inch 720p HD display and is powered by Qualcomm’s 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor. The phone also comes with 13MP rear camera, 8MP front shooter, dual-SIM support, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot and Android 4.4. HTC has stated that it will get the Android L update.
On the other hand, the Desire 820Q is powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. Rest of the specifications are same as Desire 820. HTC has also noted that both Desire 820 and 820Q come with 4G LTE/ 3G support on both SIM card slots.

Lastly, the Desire 816G is a brand new variant of the company’s previously released Desire 816. The smartphone packs 5.5-inch HD display, 1.3GHz MediaTek quad-core processor, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter, and dual-SIM support.
Pricing and availability
According to HTC, the Desire 816G will retail for INR 18,990 but there is no word on the pricing of Desire 820 and 820Q smartphones, which will be revealed closer to the launch date. The Desire 816G will go on sale early-October, while the Desire 820 and 820Q will released in early-November.
Good pricing for 816G… could have been still lower by 2-3K… 820 & 820Q should be b/w 22-26K… Shall be good bang for buck !!!
Competition is heating up in mid-range and it is showing with prices of new phones being launched by manufacturers !!!
18k for a mediatek ,which is on the android one phones
Different MediaTek SoC. You do know that the vendor makes more than just the one, right?
But still the price is high..

They should release a bit early may be Diwali , or else its difficult to capture the market .
all will be a flop .. bad pricing
the article should be named “HTC disappoints again”. 816G instead of upgrading or offering Snapdragon 400/410, switches to Mediatek. Unless the chipset is 6588 (Mali-450 instead of Mali-400), the performance will be subpar. At 19k, Snapdragon 400 (i am not even asking about 410) would have been enough of a compelling choice to propel some sales but with another mediatek, most people will compare it to Android One irrespective of chipset.
That very much means 820 will get a 25k pricetag. This isn’t looking good for HTC.
