Qualcomm has taken the wraps of the new Snapdragon 210 processor for the entry-level smartphones and tablets on Wednesday. The new processor integrates 4G LTE support as well as LTE dual-SIM compatibility.

These announcements further cement our commitment in broadly driving LTE and LTE Advanced to enable our customers the flexibility to deliver high-speed connectivity and an advanced mobile experience at affordable prices,” said Jeff Lorbeck, senior vice president and chief operating officer, Qualcomm Technologies, China.
Coming to the details, based on 28nm process, the Snapdragon 210 packs four processing cores supporting upto 1.1GHz clock-rate, Adreno 304 GPU, integrated 4G LTE-Advanced World Mode modem, Bluetooth 4.1, and 802.11n Wi-Fi. According to Qualcomm, the SoC is capable of supporting up to 8MP cameras, up to 720p display, and Quick Charge 2.0 technology.
The Snapdragon 210 processor is expected to be available in commercial devices in the first half of 2015, so we will probably see some device announcements at Mobile World Congress 2015. More details available on Qualcomm website.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 208
In addition to the Snapdragon 210, Qualcomm has also unveiled the Snapdraogn 208 processor, which is targeted to the 3G devices. It includes two processing cores, Gobi 3G multimode modem, Adreno 304 GPU, Bluetooth 4.1, and 802.11n Wi-Fi. Like 210, it is also based on 28nm process but will support upto 5MP camera, qHD displays and Quick Charge 2.0. Commercial devices powered by 208 are expected in first half of 2015. Good Move by Qualcomm ! They are targeting Android One ….
It will also help companies like Reliance in launching services widely as these chips will enable greater spread of 4G enabled devices at fairly cheap prices. Win – Win situation for everyone… However, depends on execution !
Snapdragon 210 = Snapdragon 400 (low clockspeed) + LTE.
Was expecting this kind of move by Qualcomm but dualcore Cortex A53 would have been more appropriate than aging Cortex A7. but you know quadcore is more of a feature than requirement. At least entrylevel section getting the necessary attention.

I’d much rather have an A53 dual at 2Ghz than an A7 hexa (BIG.Little or whatever) at 1.5. Most apps don’t even utilize the 3rd and 4rth cores, let alone the gimmicky extra ones.
