Spice Fire OneSpice today became the first Indian smartphone vendor to launch a Firefox OS smartphone in the country. The company has released Fire One Mi-FX 1 smartphone, which will retail for just INR 2,299. Apart from Spice, Intex is also expected to release Firefox OS smartphones.

This partnership with Mozilla showcases our commitment to providing the best technological innovations first hand to our customers,” said Prashant Bindal, Chief Executive Officer, Spice Mobility Ltd.

On the specifications front, Spice Fire One features dual-SIM support, 1GHz single-core processor, 3.5-inch HVGA display and 1.3MP rear camera. The phone also packs 0.3MP front camera, Edge support and Wi-Fi. The phone will come pre-loaded with Facebook, Twitter and Connect A2 applications. As was earlier stated, the phone runs on Firefox OS and packs Marketplace, which can be used to download more applications.

The Spice Fire One will first go on sale at Snapdeal.com staring August 29., which will have a limited time exclusivity, following which it will be released in open market.
