Xiaomi Redmi 1SAs we reported recently, Xiaomi has revealed the India release details of the Redmi 1S smartphone. The company today announced at a press event in New Delhi that it will start selling the Redmi 1S smartphone in India exclusively at Flipkart beginning September 2. It has also revised the pricing of the phone and it will retail for INR 5,999, not INR 6,999 as was stated by Xiaomi at the time of Mi 3 launch.

INR 6K is an incredible pricing for a smartphone of Redmi 1S calibre. To remind you, the phone features a 4.7-inch 720p HD display, 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Android 4.3 with MIUI v5 and 1GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 8GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, 8MP rear camera, 1.6MP front camera and 2000 mAh battery.

According to Xiaomi, it will be following the same weekly flash sale model with Redmi 1S that it has been using with Mi 3. So, the interested consumers will have register for every sale every week to participate in the final sale. The registrations for the September 2 sale will begin later today at 6PM.

There is no word on how many units, the company plans to put on sale for the phone but it has stated that the number will be more than Mi 3 units.

Xiaomi has also stated that Redmi 1S accessories will go on sale alongside the smartphone and it has also revealed the pricing of these accessories.

Redmi 1S coloured back cover: INR 469

Redmi 1S Screen protector: INR 179

Redmi 1S Flip Cover: INR 559

In related news, Xiaomi has stated that it plans to add four more exclusive service centres in Gurgaon, Chennai, Mumbai and Hyderbaad. These centres will function like the ones present in Bangalore and New Delhi, which are operated by the company itself and offer a turnaround time of 2 hours.

  1. It may lead to BAD publicity if they do not provide numbers matching the registrations… They have a fairly good idea about the demand and supply equation in India now considering that they have held 5 flash sales in last month and a half.

All I wanted to say that they need to ramp up or perish….

  2. At this rate, Indian smartphone vendors will be put to bed soon. Brilliant strategy by Xiaomi.

  3. its almost impossible to buy one in flash sale. i tried buying mi3 three times still couldn’t . will look for different alternative. its really not the best sale model. they should improve their production capacity

  4. can anyone confirm if the GSM sim supports 3G. At some places it says Dual Sim (GSM+GSM) and (CDMA+GSM).

    1. It’s WCDMA+GSM, not CDMA+GSM. WCDMA is GSM 3G. Also known as UMTS (for voice).

What it basically means is that one SIM will be 3G while the other will be 2G – both GSM, meaning your Airtel, Vodafone, Aircell, BSNL etc SIMs will work in both slots & you won’t need to rush to Reliance to get yourself a CDMA connection for that 2nd SIM slot to be .useful LOL!

  5. Which color will be delivered? Will we be able to select color option?
Buyers of MI 3, could you please update on the color option.

  6. sir je mere paas tata cdma sim hai kya is mobile mai yeh sim lagegi kya pls batao kyonki mai isko isi wajah se online kharid raha hoon
