Engineering Head Liu moves to advisory role

HTC might have recently posted its first profit in a year but the upheaval among the senior ranks continues. According to online reports, HTC’s Chief Marketing Office Ben Ho (Benjamin Ho) has resigned. He has been managing the company’s marketing efforts since late-2012.

In addition, HTC’s President of Engineering and Operations Fred Liu is no longer a part of day-to-day operations and will now take more of strategic advisory role at the company.  The Verge is quoting unnamed HTC sources to state that the executives have actually been asked to leave their current roles by the company and these are not really resignations.

According to Bloomberg, HTC Chariwoman Cher Wang has taken over the role of Chief Marketing Officer. There is no word on who will take over Liu’s place in the company.

“The exit of the senior executives continues a series of management changes that include replacing its finance chief in 2012 and the return of Wang to a more hands-on role at the company last year. HTC has posted 11 consecutive quarters of falling revenue amid increased competition and a cut in marketing spending,” noted Bloomberg.
