HP ChromebookGoogle has announced that Chromebooks will be released in nine more countries over the coming months. The company has not given any specifics about pricing or exact release dates but we hope to hear from the regional Google offices soon.

The countries, which will be getting the Chromebooks in the coming days, are New Zealand, Philippines, Norway, Denmark, Mexico, Chile, Belgium, Spain and Italy.

To remind you, these Chrome OS devices are already sold in the countries like US, UK, India, Australia, Singapore, Netherlands, Germany, Finland, and Sweden.

There is no word on which Chromebook models will be released in the new markets but it will probably be dependent on the individual manufacturers if they see value in releasing their Chromebooks in a particular market.

According to market research firm IDC, around 2.5 million Chromebooks were sold globally in 2013 and these account for 1pc the entire PC market. Introduced in 2011, Chromebooks are still not a very common product but with expansion in new markets and the launch of new and improved devices, Chrome OS could turn out be a decent force in the laptop market.

Update: Google has now told 9to5Google that Acer C720, C720P, HP Chromebook, HP Chromebook 14 and Toshiba Chromebook 13 will be among the first wave of Chromebooks to reach the new markets.

The company has also provided a list of retailers, which will be carrying the Chromebooks in these markets.
