Samsung launches operator-billing support for Samsung Apps in India
Samsung has announced that it has partnered with telecom operators Vodafone and Aircel to bring operator billing in Samsung Apps for Indian users.
According to the company, Samsung Android device users can now go to Samsung Apps and download premium apps without worrying about credit cards. The consumers will be able to pay using their prepaid account balance or add their app purchase to their postpaid bill.
“We are excited to partner with India’s major telecom operators for this unique integration. This exclusive tie-up on Samsung App store further showcases our commitment to providing the best service experience to our customers. Given the poor credit card penetration in the country, we are positive that this move will be welcomed by customers. It is another step forward to expand our engagement with the publisher and developer community by enhancing adoption as well as monetization from the store,” said Tarun Malik, Director of Media Solutions Center-South West Asia, Samsung Electronics.
Samsung states that operator billing will not only support app purchases but also Kindle e-book purchases via Kindle for Samsung app, which was unveiled recently.
This is a wise move from Samsung as it will not only help the consumers but also drive developer adoption of the Samsung Apps platform.
