Alcatel OneTouch Idol X+

Comes bundled with Boomband & JBL in-ear headphones

TCL Communication’s smartphone brand Alcatel One Touch has announced the launch of its Idol X+ smartphone in the Indian market today. The phone will be released exclusively on e-retailer Flipkart for INR 16,999 on June 3. For this price-tag, the company will also be bundling a free Boomband activity tracker and JBL in-ear headphones like it did in the Chinese market.

Originally introduced in December 2013, the Alcatel OT Idol X+ features a 5-inch full HD IPS display, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of on-board storage and Android 4.2. The phone is powered by 2GHz MediaTek octa-core processor and includes dual-SIM support, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS.

Coming to the Boomband, this waterproof activity tracker monitors your physical/ sleep activity and even acts as a proximity alarm, so if you leave your connected phone behind, the Boomband will inform you. The device can also remind the users of the incoming calls on their connected smartphone. It works with smartphones running on Android 4.3+ and include BLuetooth 4.0 LE. The data collected from the device is shown on the Boomband Life app, which is available from ALcatel One Touch website.

Worth the price-tag?

At the pricing, the smartphone surely looks interesting and the free goodies are an added benefit. The specifications are good apart from the obsolete Android 4.2 present on the phone. We hope that the company releases the KitKat update, however there is no official word on the update right now.
