Create & edit documents and spreadsheets with Google’s Docs and Sheets apps
Built-in offline support, Slides app with PowerPoint support incoming
Although Google’s Drive app (a successor to Google Docs) works with word documents, spreadsheets as well as presentations, the search giant wants to make creating and editing content even easier.
The company is today introducing its new standalone Docs and Sheets apps with Slides app to follow later. The new apps come with built-in offline support, so you don’t need data connection to create documents on-the-go on your smartphone or tablet.
“Need to find a spreadsheet? Go to the Sheets app. Need to create a document? Go to the Docs app. They’re all right there at your fingertips. When you open the new apps, you’ll see your most recently edited files, which means less time searching and scrolling,” Google explained in a blog post.
You can download the apps now from Google Play (links given below) but if you don’t have time now and forget to download them later, Google will prompt you to download the apps whenever you go to edit or create a document or spreadsheet in your Drive app over the next few days.
Worried about the Google Drive app, don’t, the app will continue to be available in Google Play and still allow you to view and organize all of your documents, spreadsheets, presentations, photos and more.
