    • For the 2Ghz/2GB/16GB variant, yes, I’m afraid so. But the 1.6Ghz/1GB/8GB variant will probably come for 9990/-.

In mainland China, they launched the lower end ZF5 variant at 799 Yuan (1 Yuan=9.7 Rs.) and the higher end variant at 999 Yuan both of which are significantly cheaper than the pricing in their own homeland of Taiwan, which caused a great deal of controversy leading to Asus cutting back the Taiwanese pricing and announcing freebies for the early birds.

I’ve been waiting for this ever since they were revealed at the CES 2014 in January, but the Indian pricing as expected is going to be a dampener. I didn’t expect anything better though.

I’m hoping the higher end variant launches for under 10K, but that is beyond unlikely. It seems well nigh impossible now. Either way, no matter how they price these devices, Asus will have a hard time meeting demand, I think, so it doesn’t make sense for them to go cheap from the business point of view. I get that, and that’s what disappoints me no end 😦
