Moto G Out of Stock16GB version went out of stock in less than 15 mins

Update: Flipkart has stated that it plans to bring in more Moto G stock by 12 noon today. So if you weren’t able to order the phone last night, you can try in the next one and a half hours.

Earlier: Motorola’s much awaited Moto G did not last long on e-retailer Flipkart, which is exclusively selling the smartphone in India. Both 16GB version and 8GB versions of the phone were sold out within an hour of going on sale at 12:01AM today (i.e. Feb 6).

The exact number of sales is unclear at this point however if we take into account the total number of Moto G units imported in the country, Flipkart has sold about 5,000 units of the 16GB version and 14,800 units of the 8GB version within an hour.

The 16GB version was the first to get out of stock within just 15 minutes of going on sale, 8GB version lasted around an hour.

This is a pretty decent performance for a company that has been absent from the Indian market for over a year and has finally returned. There is no doubt that the aggressive pricing has been one of the key factors in this performance by Moto G on the launch day. Even if the phone was launched at a slightly higher price, the reaction would have been similar as Moto G is a better option than almost all smartphones available in sub-INR 16K price-bracket in the country.

To remind you, Moto G has been priced at INR 12,499 for the 8GB version and INR 13,999 for the 16GB. The company is only selling dual-SIM variant of the phone in India. It comes with 4.5-inch 720p display, quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 2070 mAh battery and Android 4.3. The phone also packs 5MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera.

  13. This must be one of the most commented articles in the history of this site. Good for you, Gaurav 🙂

  14. The sales data quoted in the article are just Import data. Actual sales figures would be different. also 8GB is still in stock, so all that 14800 imported ones have not sold out !

  15. why wasting 8GB version majority not instersted to buy? Flipkart is very smart they wont put Moto G in huge stock of 16GB version it will affect others smart phones sales eve in 25K price range?….
