Moto G IndiaAs expected, Motorola has unveiled the Moto G budget Android smartphone in the Indian market today. The phone is set to go on sale via e-retailer Flipkart on Thursday (Feb 6, 2014). (Update: The phone is now on sale at Flipkart).

Like we confirmed yesterday, the company has only released the dual-SIM version of Moto G in the country, which has been priced at INR 12,499 for the 8GB version and INR 13,999 for the 16GB variant.

According to Motorola, Moto G will be exclusive to Flipkart for the foreseeable future, which could be weeks or months. The company has not given a specific time-frame. This puts a question mark on how Snapdeal’s pre-order listing is stating Feb third week availability.

Talking about Moto G availability on Flipkart a little more, the e-retailer is offering a host of goodies to the buyers of the smartphone. The consumers will get INR 500 discount on e-book purchases, INR 1,000 discount on clothing purchases, and 70 percent discount on the Moto G’s coloured shells. You can read more about these offers at Flipkart.

Originally announced in November 2013, Moto G features a 4.5-inch 720p HD display, 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 4.3 but Motorola is promising to provide the Android 4.4.2 update in the matter of days. The phone also comes with 50GB of free Google Drive storage like in other markets.

“We think everybody deserves to experience mobile Internet at its best, and price shouldn’t stand in the way of anyone owning a technologically advanced smartphone. Moto G promises its users a best-in-class mobile experience at an unbelievable price and we couldn’t think of a better launch partner than Flipkart.com, India’s largest e-commerce marketplace and a leader in smartphone sales in India,” said Magnus Ahlqvist, GM of EMEA and Asia Pac, Motorola Mobility.

  1. Now watch how the prices of other phones in the same price range from Samsung and other brands nosedive in the next few weeks 🙂

Galaxy Core, S Duos 2, Xperia M, Optimus L7 II and L5 II etc., not to mention the Canvas series phones from MMX.

  2. Just read somewhere that Flipkart will start selling it tomorrow.. February 6… What a long wait

  3. why buy 8Gb version if 16gb is available for just 1.5kmore.. They should have released a single-sim model..It would have lowered atleast 2k…
