Motorola CEO apologizes for Cyber Monday mess

Moto X Cyber Monday failBrings discounted Moto X deal back for two more days

Motorola probably had the worst Cyber Monday and several of the prospective consumers, who were trying to get the company’s discounted Moto X were left frustrated. The company CEO Dennis Woodside is now apologising for the mess.

To give you a quick recap, Motorola store went down even before Cyber Monday promotion could begin yesterday and when it was finally opened again, the Moto Maker crashed. While some of consumers were able to order non-Moto Maker Moto X units, the ones waiting to order their customised Moto X were left wanting.

Woodside has now explained that they failed to anticipate the overwhelming consumer demand for the smartphone and in the absence of sufficient pre-sale site testing, Motorola store and Moto Maker went down again and again on Cyber Monday.

“When we opened the promotion this morning, an extraordinary spike in concurrent orders caused our website to go down. We couldn’t fulfill orders. The site became unstable. While some orders were filled, many customers tried all day to place their orders, unsuccessfully. Customers were left frustrated,” Woodside wrote on Motorola blog.

“We have since found a solution that we believe addresses the concurrent order issue. Motorolans are hard at work right now, implementing that solution,” he added.

If you were trying to order a discounted Moto X on Monday and were not able to. Well you are in luck, Motorola will be offering the discounted Moto X for two more days – Wednesday and Monday, December 9.

Motorola is also doubling the quantity of phones available and extending the 30% off offer on accessories to these two days.
