Alcatel has introduced a new One Touch series smartphone in the form of Hero, which comes with “what can easily be dubbed as the most interesting set of accessories that we have seen in the recent times.”
Talking about the non-interesting part first, Alcatel One Touch Hero features a 6-inch full HD display 2GB of RAM, 1.5GHz quad-core processor (of unknown make, probably MediaTek or Snapdragon 200), 13MP rear camera, 8/ 16GB of internal storage, microSD card slot, Android 4.2, 2GB of RAM and 3400 mAh battery.
Coming to the accessories now, Alcatel has announced at least six accessories with support for One Touch Hero. The most interesting one is the e-ink cover, it is basically a second-screen (e-ink display based) for the phone, which attaches itself to the phone covering the main screen and you can see pretty much everything that you will normally see on your phone via this e-ink display. The main use cases are reading newspapers, e-books, magazines or text-rich content, which will save the battery-life because of e-ink display and also be easy on the eyes.
Another interesting accessory is the MagicFlip cover, which not only covers the front of the phone but also displays notifications on the cover using the embedded LED. Here are some images showing MagicFlip cover in action.
Other accessories include a companion bluetooth enabled secondary phone like HTC Mini (and Mini+), a Pico Projector, TV Link connectivity device for mirroring smartphone display on TV, wireless charger with a cover (which enables wireless charging on the phone) and a stylus (probably comes bundled with the phone).
“The HERO is challenging the conventional smart phone category, merging technologies and enabling users to personalize their device to suit their passion with a wealth of accessories,” the company noted in a press release.
