A Samsung executive has confirmed that this Korean manufacturer is indeed going to unveil Samsung Galaxy Note III and Galaxy Gear smartwatch on September 4 in Berlin.
Samsung has already sent out invites to the tech press around the world for September 4 press event but this is the first official confirmation about the announcement of these two devices on the day.
“We will be introducing a new wearable concept device called Galaxy Gear at our own event in Berlin on Sept. 4,” Lee Young-hee, executive vice president of Samsung’s mobile business told Korea Times in an interview. She also added that Galaxy Gear will use a “non-flexible display.”
“Samsung opened a new smart mobile device category back in 2011 with the introduction of the first Galaxy Note. Since then, smartphones with large screens have been a mainstream trend. As the creator of this category, we will introduce our customers to enhanced key features on our Galaxy Note devices,” she added.
Lee did not share any other details about these products but she did hint that Samsung is working on advanced smartwatches, which might feature flexible display.
To remind you, Samsung Galaxy Gear is rumoured to come with 2.5-inch square OLED display, dual-core processor, Bluetooth, NFC and Wi-Fi support. It will work in conjunction with Samsung’s Android devices, which will use Watch Manager app to communicate with the smartwatch.
On the other hand, Galaxy Note III is expected to come with 5.7-inch full HD display, Android 4.3, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
Update: Images of Samsung Galaxy Note III display panel have leaked online via ETrade Supply, which give us a pretty decent idea of how this upcoming Samsung smartphone is going to look like.
