Android boss Sundar Pichai might have hinted at Samsung-made Nexus 10 successor, but
Geek reports that the new Nexus 10 tablet will be released in time for holidays, which is a no-brainer. The tablet will be available at both Best Buy stores as well as Google Play at launch.
The specifications of this rumoured tablet are unclear at this moment but if Asus is indeed making the Nexus 10 successor, we expect to see significant hardware improvements over the last-generation like the Nexus 7 tablets.
Also, as last year’s Nexus 10 tablet was not much of a success despite the impressive display and other hardware, so chances are that Google and Asus will be making some big changes.
What do you guys think, would you like to see an Asus-made Nexus 10 or Samsung-made?
Update: (Aug 11) Turns out former WSJ reporter Amir Efrati, which was the source of Samsung-made Nexus 10 reports, has clarified and said that he does not know the maker the next Nexus 10 tablet.

This development adds more credibility to Geek report that Asus is building the next Nexus 10 tablet. The blog has also published a screenshot of a placeholder Best Buy Inventory listing, which also suggests that upcoming Nexus 10 will be made by Asus.
Samsung would be the better choice..

I suspect we’ll see maybe some more RAM, a better CPU/GPU combo and hopefully slightly better cameras. Unlikely to see either an SD card slot (which will be the first thing everyone bitches about) or a higher screen res (it’s already at “ridiculous res” levels). I like my original Nexus 10 and I think it’s good enough to perhaps skip the successor (like I’ve done with my 2012 Nexus 7 – I’ll wait for the 2014 model of that…but that’s approaching limits too!).
What I’d really like to see with the Nexus 10 successor though is 1) some actual marketing of it – the original Nexus 10 got basically none and 2) availability in offline stores. Point 2 totally killed the sales of the original Nexus 10 and was even more frustrating when you realise you could buy the Nexus 7 offline everywhere. I’m not sure you could physically try out the original Nexus 10 in the UK before buying it, which I reckon put off a fair number of people.
