Samsung India today launched Galaxy S4 Zoom camera-phone in the country at a press event in Mumbai. Packing 16MP rear camera with 10x Optical Zoom, the phone has been priced at INR 29,900 and will reach stores in the upcoming days.
Originally announced last month, Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom is more like Galaxy S4 mini rather than Galaxy S4. It features 4.3-inch qHD Super AMOLED display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.2.
It also comes with 1.5GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage, and 2330 mAh battery.
Samsung has done a lot of software customisation on S4 Zoom to make it more like a smart camera. Some of these customisations are Photo Suggest, Smart Mode, Drama Shot, and Story Album.
According to a press release issued by Samsung, Galaxy S4 zoom’s ‘Zoom Ring’ can do a lot of things including the obvious zooming. “When you’re in the middle of a phone call and you see something you absolutely have to share, a quick twist of the Zoom Ring will activate the In-Call Photo Share feature, letting you capture and send an image directly via MMS to whoever you are talking to simply. For easy camera navigation, the Zoom Ring can be used to activate the Quick Launch and Shortcut features, giving you instant access to multiple camera modes including Auto, Gallery and Smart Mode with a simple twist,” Samsung noted.
Like Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini, Samsung has also tied up with RCOM for Galaxy S4 Zoom. The camera-phone buyers on RCOM will get 2GB of free 3G data for three months. In addition, Samsung India is also bundling a free flip cover with every phone as an introductory offer. The company will also be offering interest-free EMI like its other high-end Android devices.
