Nexus edition of Samsung Galaxy S4 is real, coming on June 26 in Google Play

Samsung Galaxy S4 Nexus EditionNeed a mainstream Nexus device; it is coming soon. Google has announced the Nexus edition of Samsung’s hugely popular Galaxy S4 smartphone today. It runs on stock Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and will be sold via Google Play.

It is initially going to be available in the United States at a price-tag of $649. Google is yet to reveal plans for other countries.

Stock Android is good, what is better – direct Android updates from Google with new platform releases. So, the next time, Google announces a new Android version, it will be available on Galaxy S4 Nexus Edition as an OTA update soon after Nexus devices.

Next month, we are adding a new Android device to the store to join our current lineup of Nexus phones and tablets. We’ve worked closely with Samsung to create a special Samsung Galaxy S4 exclusively for Google Play. It brings together cutting edge hardware from Samsung with Google’s latest software and services — including the user experience that ships with our popular Nexus devices.

The version of Galaxy S4 Nexus Edition going on sale US is both factory and bootloader unlocked and supports LTE on AT&T and T-Mobile networks.

Other specifications of the phone remain same as Touchwiz version, which packs 5-inch 1080 Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor, 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera, 2MP front camera and microSD card slot.
