Idea Cellular has announced the launch of a new Android smartphone in the country today. Dubbed as Idea Aurus 2, the phone will succeed the company’s previous launched Aurus smartphone. Loaded with Android 4.1, the phone has been priced at INR 6,490 and is now available across idea outlets and major retail stores.
Idea Aurus 2 will join the company’s earlier released Idea Zeal, Idea Ivory, ID 918, Idea Blade and the already mentioned Idea Aurus smartphones.
Coming to the smartphone, Idea Aurus 2 is powered by a 1GHz single core processor. The phone features 3.5-inch HVGA display, 3.2-megapixels rear camera, and VGA front camera. It also packs dual-SIM support, 512MB RAM, 4GB of on-board storage (user-accessible memory will be less) and microSD card slot.
“Idea focuses on bringing the best of 3G technology at affordable price to our subscribers, thereby maintaining an equilibrium between both cost and technology. We are encouraged by the response to our 3G smartphones, having sold over 300,000 3G smartphones over the last one year. We expect Aurus 2 to meet the consumers’ expectations for entertainment, e-mail connectivity, social networking, and browsing of smart apps and widgets,” said Sashi Shankar, Chief Marketing Officer – Idea Cellular.
Idea Aurus 2 buyers will get 1.6 GB of 3G data and Idea TV subscription free for the first 3 months for just INR 261.
