Not much is known about the Amazon’s next generation of Kindle Fire tablets right now, but a recent report from Digitimes has something to add on the matter. According to the publication, the next gen-Kindle Fire tablet will start shipping in third quarter.
Apparently, Taiwanese ODM Compal Electronics has landed the order for Amazon’s next generation 7-inch Kindle Fire tablets.
“Compal has landed orders for a 7-inch Kindle Fire from Amazon and orders for tablets from Hewlett-Packard, with Kindle Fire shipments to start in the third quarter of 2013, the sources indicated.”
As we have already mentioned, there is hardly anything available on the new Kindle Fire tablet, apart from the recent rumours from TechCrunch, which was also quashed by Amazon. Techcrunch noted that Amazon is working on a $99 Kindle Fire HD 7-inch tablet.
Since the launch of original Kindle Fire tablet, Amazon has released two more Kindle Fire series tablets – Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9. Given the reports of Kindle Fire 8.9 not-being much popular with consumers and thus the company recently had to reduce its pricing, Amazon is likely to stick to the seven-inch form factor this year.
If the third-quarter shipments timeline is true, we can expect an announcement from Amazon around July/August.
