Earlier today, Google finally started selling Nexus 7 tablet in India via Google Play store. It is the first Android and Nexus device to ever become available directly from the search giant in the country
Pricing/ Availability:
Google is currently selling the 16GB Wi-Fi only version of Nexus 7 tablet in the country via Google Play. This is the most basic model available globally since Google stopped selling the 8GB Wi-Fi-only version. The 16GB version is being sold for INR 15,999.
The Indian pricing is around INR 2-2.5K more than what you will pay if you get Nexus 7 directly from US online ($199 (INR 10,777) (product price) + INR 1000 (shipping) + INR 1885 (duty) = INR 13,662 (approx.)). If you get it from a relative in US, the pricing is going to be much cheaper.
Payment/ Shipping:
As Google currently only accepts Credit Card payments in Google Play, so you will have to pay INR 15,999 using a credit card. There seems to be no shipping charge, or may be Google has already included that in the final pricing, so all you are going to pay Google for Nexus 7 is INR 15,999.
The tablet will be shipped using FedEx or Aramax, which service most of the areas in the country, but still there will be places where these two courier companies don’t operate. If that is the case with your location, you are better off getting your tablet at a friend or relative’s place.
As per Google support site, all shipments take around 3-7 days to deliver, so the first Nexus 7 shipments in India should begin reaching customers around April 8, 2013, as the shipments will start from Google’s end on April 5.

Go to Play.Google.com, if you don’t directly see Nexus 7 on the homepage; choose “Devices” section or “Shop Devices” from the drop-down. More on the same in the following flow-chart.
About the tablet:
Nexus 7 was originally introduced at Google I/O dev conference in June 2012. The tablet began shipping in select countries in mid-July with 8GB Wi-Fi only version being the basic one. Google later expanded the Nexus 7 line-up by introducing 32GB Wi-Fi only version as well as 32GB HSPA+ version in October 2012. Company also stopped selling 8GB version at the same time and reduced the price of 16Gb Wi-Fi only version to $199, which was earlier the price of 8GB variant.
Made in partnership with Asus, Google Nexus 7 is termed a commercial success and the companies had sold around 4.5 million units of the tablet in 2012. The numbers would have gone up since then.

This is the strategy.. Sell your product to rich countries for cheap price. Either do not sell product to poor countries at all or sell them costly. Google is a$$hole.

It is just stock clearing strategy. As we know new nexus going to launch at any movement. India is always stock clearing market for many international companies.
next nexus is nexus 10.its already out.it is a 10 inch tab rom samsung with high end spec.with nexus brand of devices there is no meaning in new or old as google always update software and next nexus product may be in another genre.for examble nexus 1 is phone from htc.then nexus s phone with samsung ,3rd product was galaxy nexus phone.4th one nexus 7 tab from asus.newest is nexus 10 tab from samung and nexus 4 phone from LG together unveiled in same event.so each product is unique and different.but each time a new version of android comes google will update yr device.

Do you know that next version of nexus 7 is going to be released in May?
And it will be very high specced according to rumors including 1080p display.
The current model is already 10 months old and they are selling it here for much higher price than in other countries.

ooh! you forgot to add shipping cost and local Taxes in US.It may be around $35 and so total amount will be Approx.15500. Its a fair deal man

Guys, this is not a stock clearing move. Google is selling devices directly in India for the first time, and that is a big deal. It looks like they are using nexus 7 to test the waters for now.
This means that in the future, new nexus devices (and Motorola X phones?) can be sold directly in India as the groundwork is now there. If the same nexus devices were launched by their respective OEM’s, they’d have been much more expensive. Eg., Nexus 4, when sold directly by LG in a country, is much more expensive than its play store price in that same country.
And speaking of Nexus 4, I won’t be surprised if we start seeing that in play store too in the coming month or so.. 😀
If its not stock clearing strategy why they are releasing this just before the next version comes to the market.
Google i/o starts May 15th. They will launch the updated version of nexus 7 there because it will be one year since it came.
Apple used to do this with their iphone and iPADs in India. At least they are now releasing their products within 2-3 months of US launch.

Moto X isn’t coming to india ….. ever..
reason is simple Moto has stopped selling its devices in Asia and soon would close their support centers too (support centers are working right now coz manufacturer provides 1 year warranty with devices) after that period ends Moto would wind up all its mobile operations from Asia.
Now if google sells Moto X in India how would they provide support????… its a big question with no answer

those who are shouting stock clearing n all that i just wanna say demand of nexus 7 in us is stil high..
and the shipping cost in india is higher..
so in that sense i dont think its stock clearing..
the demand of android devices in india is too high now days and its a great move by google..
i’ve got a mail from google product manager 2 months before regarding nexus device in india n he replied they are working on it.
and today we can see nexus in india…

Finally! DOnt know still ,what came to g00gles mind when they decided this…but at least its available in India ! the pricing could have been reasonable though… paying 6k extra for a 10k tablet itself sounds very repelling ! I know shipping,tax blah blah blah needs so and so extra charge ,but google could have put up an introductory price keeping in mind the indian economy… lets see what else they come up with
