Sony-xperia-sp-lSony has officially announced Xperia SP and Xperia L mid-range Android smartphones today. Packing some pretty decent specifications, these smartphones will be available worldwide beginning Q2, 2013.

“Xperia SP and Xperia L are ideally suited for those seeking stylish class-leading smartphones that don’t compromise on features”, said Calum MacDougall, Director of Xperia Marketing at Sony Mobile Communications. “Both of our new models benefit from Sony’s proven innovation and engineering expertise – whether you want to enjoy premium HD quality entertainment over 4G LTE on our mid-range Xperia SP or capture every moment in perfect detail with our more affordable Xperia L.”

Talking about specific smartphones, Sony Xperia SP features a 4.6-inch 720p Reality display, 1.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual core processor with the Adreno 320 GPU, 1 GB of RAM, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), LTE, NFC, GLONASS,  and an 8MP camera with HDR for picture.

According to Sony, Xperia SP display comes with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2, which is an evolution of the company’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine and delivers better viewing experience by adding a new real-time contrast optimisation and improved sharpness. Company has also included the Superior Auto technology from its Cyber-shot digital camera range, which intelligently detects scenes (up to nine scenes), sets most optimal settings for still image, and applies best image processing including layered technology (up to four photos), making it easy to get the best shot even in a dark or backlight scene.

Sony Xperia L packs 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus dual core processor, 1 GB of RAM, 4.3-inch  FWVGA display, Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), NFC,  and an 8MP camera with HDR for picture and movie.

Both the smartphones also come pre-bundled with Sony’s “WALKMAN”, “Album” and “Movies” apps.

    don’t you mean S4 “pro” ?
    correct me if i’m mistaken.!

      1. The Snapdragon MSM8960T in Xperia SP is not a Plus Processor, its a Dual core Pro processor.

        Only Xperia L has the Snapdragon S4 Plus Processor.

  2. Xperia SP is also rumoured to be available for the price of 300 Euros is Rs22k approx.. If thats the case then Samsung’s downfall has started 🙂

  3. for eu xperia l price is 299€ (387$) and for sp it is 419€ (545$) and both of them are ridiculously priced.
