Lenovo announces five Android phones – IDEAPHONE K860, S880, S560, P700i, A60+

After Fujitsu, it is the turn of Lenovo to enter the Indian smartphone in a big way. The Chinese manufacturer was until active in the Indian tablet market, but hasn’t really jumped in the smartphone arena (unless, we missed something).

The company on Thursday announced not one or two, but five Android smartphones for the country. These smartphones range from entry-level devices to high-end quad-core smartphones.

Starting with Lenovo K860, it is a direct competitor to Samsung’s Galaxy Note II and LG’s Optimus Vu with its 5-inch 720p IPS display. It also comes with 1.4GHz quad-core processor, 8MP rear camera, 2250 mAh battery and Android 4.0. It has been priced at INR 28,500, which certainly makes it a great deal.

The next in the line is Lenovo S880, which is another 5-incher, but not in Galaxy Note II category. It is a mid-range smartphone with features like dual-SIM connectivity, 5-inch WVGA display, 2250 mAh battery, Android 4.0, 1GHz processor and 5MP rear camera. S880 has been priced at INR 18,999.

Another smartphone to join Lenovo’s Indian smartphone portfolio is S560. Another mid-range smartphones, it comes with 4-inch WVGA IPS display, 1GHz dual-core processor, dual-SIM, 4.0 and 5MP rear camera. S560 will be sold at INR 14,499 in the country.

Lenovo has also launched P700i, a dual-SIM smartphone, which features a 4-inch WVGA IPS display, dual-SIM, 5MP rear camera, Android 4.0 and 2500 mAH battery. It will be sold for INR 12,500 in the country.

The last of the batch is Lenovo A60+, which is an entry-level smartphone and has been priced at INR 6,500. It features 3.5-inch display, dual-SIM connectivity, 1GHz processor, 1500 mAH battery and Android 2.3.6.

These five Lenovo smartphones will be initially available in South India and Gujarat and will later be released in other parts of the country.
