Android Tablets, India

Nexus 7 available in India starting tomorrow for INR 19,999 (Update: No)

Update 2: Google today started selling the Nexus 7 tablet in India via Google Play for INR 15,999.

Update: Turns out, the Nexus 7 hasn’t been released in the country. Looks like someone from Asus India was quite eager to announce the launch. Anyways Asus has said that they will launch Nexus 7 in the comings months.

After a long wait, the Nexus 7 tablet is finally being launched in India. Asus has confirmed that the Nexus 7 will be available starting tomorrow in major retail stores for INR 19,999.

We have also found the tablet listed on Croma Retail website, which is selling it for INR 19,981, just a few bucks less than the MRP.

Google Nexus 7, which has been manufactured by Asus, features a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 7-inch IPS HD display, 1GB RAM, 1.2MP front camera, 16GB internal storage and Android 4.1.

It also comes with 4325 mAh battery, and the usual connectivity options.

The tablet on sale in the country seems to be Wi-Fi only version and there is no word whether we will see the launch of 3G version  in India, which will go on sale in US and select other countries starting November 13.

Originally announced at Google I/O 2012 earlier this year, Nexus 7 has got rave reviews and has been dubbed as one of the best Android tablet out there in the market. The tablet was initially launched in 8GB and 16GB internal memory variants, but Google recently introduced a new 32GB variant and removed the 8GB from sale.

  1. i guess that the price of 16gb wifi version will fall (by 2k or 3k) after the launch of 32 gb version, well thats what i think bt if it doesnt then things wont workout in the favour of asus

  2. You guy’s are morons 😀 go buy tab 2 .
Be happy its officially launched in india its cheap in USA because google subsidizes it in the form of marketing and retailing it themselves so if its in india its via asus which means they have to market and retail .

  3. When launched in US, 16 GB Wifi tab is for $ 249 (INR 13695). Google is subsidizing it and on record have said that its the cost to company what they are selling. So when it comes to India, after paying 25% duty taxes, it comes out to be INR 17118. With shared margin (Manufacturer, distributor, dealer) of around INR 2800, its costing us INR 20,000. Not bad huh.

    1. For a $399(Rs.21 K approx) Ipad2, the price here is Rs.22.5K (I checked in my local shop). How come the Nexus 7 at half the selling price($199) be this high? Guess Ipad mini at $329 is going to be cheaper when launched here…
So sad since i have been waiting for this nexus launch for a looong time… now have to go with sam tab 2…

    2. First Google is not selling subsidized.

  5. Where the hell is the 3G version and where did the remaining 16 GB go?? Why do they want Indians to pay more?

  6. guys get one from the us if ur relatives are coming..
