Meet Meep: An Android 4.0 tablet for kids

Oregon Scientific has announced the launch of Meep tablet today in the United States. Powered by Ice Cream Sandwich, the tablet comes with7-inch display, rugged silicone sleeve and extensive parental controls.

According to the company, the Meep tablet is available starting today at major US retailers including Toys “R” Us, Target, Best Buy, RadioShack, Kmart, Meijer, Boscov’s, BJ’s,,, and QVC for USD 149.99.

The tablet also features host of pre-loaded content including Angry Birds, UNO, Toon Goggles, art and learning apps, parents will also be able to download more games, books, videos and apps for kids available in the MEEP! Store.  It also provides Google Play access.

“We wanted to design a tablet that had all of the features and technology that tablets geared toward adults had without being ‘dumbed-down’ for 6-12 year olds. The challenge was providing them with content they would enjoy and that parents would feel confident was safe,” said Bill Fleckner, Vice President of Sales for Oregon Scientific, Inc.
