Almost 1 million Nexus 7 units being sold every month: Asus
Asus, the Nexus 7 manufacturer, has revealed that Nexus 7 sales are approaching 1 million units per month. The tablet, which was released earlier this year, generated a lot of buzz because of its ultra-cheap price of USD 199.
This is the first clearest sales indication for Nexus 7 coming from Asus, which revealed the news at company’s third-quarter earnings call on Tuesday.
“At the beginning, it was, for instance, 500K units a month, then maybe 600, 700K. This latest month, it was close to 1 million,” Asus Chief Financial Officer David Chang told The Wall Street Journal.
The Nexus 7 sales numbers are expected to climb as the tablet is reaching new markets in Europe and Asia along with the launch of new variants. Google and Asus have announced a 32GB and 32GB 3G variant of the tablet and reduced the pricing of 16GB version.
To remind you, Nexus 7 features a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, 7-inch IPS 1280x800p display, 16/32 GB internal storage and Android 4.1. 3G version is coming on November 13 for $299 with 32GB of storage. The 16GB Wi-Fi only Nexus 7 is now being sold for USD 199 and 32GB for USB 249.
