Samsung has started rolling out Android 4.0 update for Galaxy Note in India. We have got multiple confirmations from Twitter as well one of our readers just tipped us that update is now available OTA as well via Samsung Kies.
The update is 319MB in size and should be downloaded using Wi-Fi otherwise you might incur significant data charges.
The update includes Android 4.0, Touchwiz UI, updated S-Note and S Memo apps. Here is a video explaining the premium suite additions of Galaxy Note in ICS update.

Guys.. Here is the process. You need to install OTA update (36 MB first). Once it is installed you need to connect your Note to PC. Kies will show you prompt regarding firmware update and this is actually ICS. I have done it this morning.

I did the same, but when i connect my device to PC and open Kies, its still showing old firmware, no pop up for ICS download… am i missing something here, or is it just that my device is not up for Update in the sequence. What is the logic behind the update sequencing…
Nope! Just updated my phone to DDLC1.. Still on 2.3.6! No further updates! Damn you Samsung!

yes. i think ics update is available. i installed 36mb update. then i connected note with kies on laptop. its shows a message upgrade to latest firmware. i started downloading file for firmware upgrade GT-N7000 Ver.12.01.06.02. Its taking lot of time to download. i am using mts data connection. Progress is on. hope it is ics.
The 36 MB update is just another firmware update for Gingerbred. Connect your phone through Kies and you will see the auto prompt for ICS update, as of now for unknown reasons the update id only available through Kies.

I sucessfully update my note to ics via kies
i got 36mb gingerbread update
But when i connect with my laptop and using kies i got
Ics 4.0 o.s. So use kies and update it.
Really nice.. Specially S Memo features.
just update ur note through KIES……..u will get ICS otherwise on phone its showing only 36 mb…..

After applying the LC1 36mb update, I hooked up my note to kies on my laptop and it showed that the ICS upgrade DDLP8 is available. Took nearly 2 hours to download (which I fail to understand why) and another 20-25 minutes to install with my note restarting 3-4 times. But finally, I got ICS :-). And yeah, I was pretty surprised to see that none of my data or apps were removed. All SMS, Apps, Contacts were there as before 🙂
I connected my note to laptop through Kies, but I dont see any message saying upgrade to latest firmware. !!! 🙁

Before you can get ICS , via Wi-Fi download a Firmware upgrade ( 36 MB) .
Post this connect note to Laptop/desktop For ICS you have to connect via Kies.
Post ICS install all user, homescreen and Music settings are reset.
User data is untouched.
Install Kies on your laptop:- http://www.samsung.com/in/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP
Then connect your note using data cable
launch Kies on laptop and once connected you will see the auto prompt for firmware update
Today I got ICS (4.0.3) through Kies…it took 35 min. to download and another 10-12 min. to update in mobile. No loss of old contacts, message, memo etc after upgrade…

hey mate i am in Managalore, i was receiving the 36mb update since two days but i was ignoring this as something different, then i read few of the comments and instantly started updating thru Kies and it worked fine.
Please update your Kies 1st and then connect the phone, it will alert you for the latest updates, make sure your phone is fully charged.
I am also trying . same problem as rizwan have.

can it be downloaded by Download accelerator.
and then be updated to phone offline.

All of u complaining about 36mb update …u guys tried it through phone itself …if u do that u will get 36mb only…
Try connecting your phone to kies installed in your pc and see what happens
you will get a notification to update your phone ….which is a ICS update
If your phone is not connecting to kies …you should do following:
1.Remove sd card
2.factory reset your phone
3.Uninstall kies and phone drivers in controll pannel
4.install kies again and connect your phone
trust me it worked for me

Guys. I have updated my NOTE with 36mb update. but when i connect to Kies it doesnot give me any popup..and even i cant see any update for ICS. Its still on gingerbread. all my friends have already done the update, except my phone. My phone is not rooted one. Can somebody guide here.

Its of no use…my note indian model is hanged when i put new ics in my phone/./.,its slow and not working properly….dont use it as it get FORCE CLOSED…..SAMSUNG should improve it…it has bugs and not stable in galaxy n ote in india…..
The 36mb is a must. First update it via OTA(i.e. Through ur phn itself)then connect ur phone to computer via datacable(install latest version of kies) , u should have reliable internet connection active..then it will show u the update availaible. Update then

how s the Battery backup in Android 4.0.3?? I updated my Note to ICS 3days back and i feel Battery backup is horrible!! I can hardly use my phone for 8-12hrs. With Gingeebread i would easily get 20-24hrs wothout any problems…… Now im planning to switch back to Gingerbread as battery backup is horrible and noajor difference in this ICS…. How others are getting the Battery backup???

For Galaxy Note, the ICS Stunner custom ROM is the best ROM available. I have using it months before Samsung released the official ICS update in India. I easily get 24 hrs battery backup with heavy use and up to 30 hrs with medium use. But u wont get S Note or any other Samsung apps. If you badly need such an app, you can use Sketch Book or any other 3rd party apps from the Play Store, there are many. And ICS Stunner is super fast with both smartphone and tablet mode. Try it once. You might like it.
i got my ics update OTA around 4 pm

I have successfully updated my galaxy note to ics. The battery backup is okay. The only problem is that I am not able to access sent items in email. Anyone else facing the same problem?
I just upgraded my Note to ICS version…Look in better in termsof speed and visuals….Need to explore other options 😉 ….It took me just 20 minutes for complete upgrade process and was smooth without any issues….

whenevr i try to update my galaxy note via. kies it shows time out and my phone is not showing any update when i check for updates.
kies asks for update and when i do that it takes an hour to update to 10% only…

I tried 3-5 times and even after factory reset its getting stuck at 45%..

Hi Guys…I upgraded my SGN to ICS thru OTA option after several tries using Kies. After few hours to get 319 MB file downloaded and then the installation, got message it update was NOT successful,but when I checked setttings->Phone, it shows the version 4.0.3 and touch sensitivity is so good. But I could not find S Note app and any change in S Memo. Anybody faced this issues and any solution for the same.

Go to settings and ‘reset’ the phone..on previous update my phone got slower..i hd done dar.it works.
Hey guys I am now running ICS 4.0.0 on my galaxy note. I don’t see any major difference in terms of battery discharging in gingerbread and ICs. Earlier on gingerbread it used to give a battery backup of 6-7 hours while continual usage.
I want to ask a question to all of you guys what is the average time of your battery backup mine is 5 hours with very heavy usage with browsing, messengers, vidoes etc, so this much time is normal??

upgrading mine right now. hope that the download goes through without any glitch.
Yesterday I got an alert for the upgrade. I clicked on the upgrade and during the download process I accidentally clicked on the cancel button.
Now if the click on the software update on my samsung note, it says no update available and OS version says gignerbeard.
How can i resolve this problem…..

Hi, Last Night i upgrade my Note GT N7000, from GB 2.3.6 to ICS 4.0.3 it is very easy to perform first you Install or update your Kies Ver. 2.3.2 12054 then restart your windows or any OS system then connect your phone with proper data cable then opening kies You should see the message that indicates that a new firmware version is available.
After you hit Start upgrade , it does take around 30 mins to 1hour for the update process to complete depending on your Internet connection. Have some patience and do not use your phone or disconnect the phone from your PC as you might have to start from the beginning.
the update process is complete you are going to be on Android version 4.0.3 and Baseband version N7000DDLP4. Previously it was running N7000DDLC1. Now you can enjoy the features of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich on your Galaxy Note. The first thing i did was install the Chrome Beta app from the Play Store ! You can get to the multi-tasking view by holding on the home key.
If you see 36mb update then you would be update this first because it is an GB 2.3.6 updates and then restart your phone and doing next upgrade of ICS 4.0.3 after 30-60min.

Hey nik i went to the nearest Samsung service centre to solve this issue.They updated my is to ics ,but this os is very slow it drains the battery and plus the touch sensitivity has gone bad.Gingerbread is better,Samsung should fix this bug.
