ICS rolling out to the HTC Velocity in Australia

Australian carrier Telstra is in the process of rolling out Ice Cream Sandwich to the HTC Velocity. Also dubbed the HTC Vivid in the US and HTC Raider in Canada, it looks like the time has come for you to get a taste of what everyone is talking about. Yes my friends, ICS is upon you — and if it’s not yet, it should be really soon.

Thanks to a video from YouTube member demomanca, we even have a 5-minute video that gives a quick rundown of what Android 4.0 and Sense 3.6 look like on the Velocity.

I never thought I’d hear myself say this either, but Sense doesn’t look all that annoying in this video. I’m a true AOSP fan at heart — the sight of OEM overlay typically makes me cringe; however, if this is the direction HTC is taking, at least its a bit of progress. Now they just need to de-bloat a bit and we’ll be good to go.

As a refresher for those who have forgotten, the HTC Velocity 4G features a 1.5GHz dual core processor, 4.5 inch qHD display, 8MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera, 1GB RAM, and the usual connectivity options. Not a pushover, by any means, and things just got even better with the addition of Ice Cream Sandwich.
