Sony announces Xperia U, Xperia P Android smartphones

Sony Mobile has announced two new Android smartphones Xperia P and Xperia U at Mobile World Congress today. Part of company’s Xperia line-up, these phones will be available globally in the middle of Q2, 2012. Company has also announced that earlier released, Xperia Ion will also be available outside US this summer.

Coming to the smartphones, Sony Xperia U features a 3.5-inch Reality Display with Mobile BRAVIA engine, 5MP rear camera with 720p HD recording, 1GHz dual core processor.

On the other hand, Sony Xperia P will come with 4-inch Reality Display with White Magic technology, which makes the phone much more readable in sunlight. Other features of the smartphone include 8MP rear with 1080p video recording support, NFC, and dual core processor.

Both the smartphones are running on Android 2.3 and will get the Android 4.0 update in second quarter. There is no word on the pricing.

  1. No microSD slot.?? Why? HTC also hasn’t included a card slot in their one series. I’ve been holding my buy from last couple of months just because of MWC! But now I’m thinking I should’ve gone with galaxy R.
