Galaxy Nexus facing ‘self-adjusting volume ghost’ bug
The initial Galaxy Nexus buyers in UK are facing a unique volume drop issue in their brand new Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone. According to the users, volume on their Galaxy Nexus drops to zero out of the blue and it is not a onetime thing. Multiple users have reported the problem and dubbed it as SAV – ghost (Self-adjusting volume ghost) bug.
The issue has already been raised on Android Google code page . Here is a video highlighting the issue as well as its description from one of the users.
This problem relates to the Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.0.1. Volume drops to nothing seemingly at random, volume rocker becomes unresponsive for a few seconds.
Cause seems to be related to switching network signals and possibly enabling Wi-Fi. Reports seem to indicate that some light contact on the volume rocker is required to replicate the bug, but I personally have experienced the issue when my finger was nowhere near the rocker.
It is not clear whether it is a software or hardware bug, but we hope it is a software thing and Google releases a patch to fix it soon.
