Lava Mobiles launches S12 Android smartphone for INR 9999

Lava Mobiles has announced its first Android S12 smartphone on Diwali eve. Joining the ranks of around 19 Android smartphones in ‘under-10K’ price band, S12 will retail for INR 9,999. Competition is very tough in this segment with companies like Samsung, LG and Motorola already present.

You won’t find specifications any earth shattering, but company seems to have done a decent job with the smartphone’s overall look and feel with nice features. Lava S12 features outdated Android 2.2, 600MHz processor, 5MP rear camera, 1300mAh battery and 3.2 inch HVGA (480×320) Capacitive touch display.

Lava has also pre-loaded around 21 apps on the smartphone including an office suite, Saavn, TOI, TuneWiki, Zenga TV and Hungama MyPlay. The smartphone will soon be available in the retail store and e-commerce portals.

“At Lava Mobiles our mission is to bring great experiences to our users. The Android platform has the potential to help users do more with their mobile phone. We are working hard to build an eco-system together with application developers to create relevant innovative solutions.”

  1. Its a thumbs down an outdated android 2.2 it’ll not work LAVA if you had ported Android 2.3 even then it’ll not sell because 600mhz its too low or very low

    1. Tell me if you can find out any Android phone with ICS on-board under 8K , the day you’ll find me one I’ll gift it to you!

When you can’t praise their efforts please don’t defame them, at least they are trying to come up with Android based phones. And yeah they didn’t have that much resources to bring updates to their phones.

  2. Isn’t XCD is on 2.1 Eclair …. 2.1 is seriously outdated… it doesn’t event support copying apps on SD card.. difference between 2.2 & 2.3 is minimal compared to that between 2.2 & 2.1… that’s why 2.3 is such a disappointment
