Toshiba announces 7 inch Thrive, will it work?
Toshiba has announced the seven inch version of its already fail Thrive Honeycomb tablet. Learning from its past mistakes, Toshiba has tried to make amends in Thrive 7, but I suppose it was already being designed when the big brother was getting heat out in the crowded tablet market, so I wouldn’t say that you will find a completely new tablet, but there are decent amount of alterations.
What is similar to the original tablet?
In the first looks, you will thing of it as a shrunken version of original Thrive; it has the rubber-coated back with indented lines along with the 5MP and 2MP cameras and 1GHz nVIDIA Tegra 2 processor.
What is not?
Of-course the display is smaller, Toshiba has also let go of the full-sized ports along with removable battery. So, you get mini-USB and micro-HDMI sockets, a headphone jack, docking connector and a microSD slot. Thrive 7 is also comparatively thinner and lightweight at 0.88 pounds 0.47 inches thickness.
Pricing and availability:
Company has not announced the pricing, but rumors are that it be sold under $400 for 16GB version. It will be available in December at major U.S. retailers, e-retailers and ToshibaDirect.com.
